Why CW’s Flash is Becoming Tiresome

So even though I totally should have reviewed the X-men movie, I had to get this off my chest. So earlier I reviewed the season 2 of The Flash airing on the CW station. In there I mentioned how Barry was starting to wain on me and unfortunately it seems that the writers have already run out of things for Barry to care about other than saving the day.

The first season worked so well because we were with Barry as he learned his powers and we slowly learned about him. We understood his obsession with finding his mother’s killer and saving his dad. Once he accomplished that, we had have him focus on his love life which- while entertaining – was undercut by the knowledge that yes, he will ULTIMATELY end up with Iris West.

Flash Season 2 Review : SPOILERS!

So it’s been awhile, I’ve been in a bit of a writers strut but I’ll save that story for another time. Lets talk some nerd television!

So I just caught up with Flash and finally completed season two!

So what do I think of the season as a whole? Well lets see:

So the show is still considered the best comic book show on T.V. NowI don’t feel that’s solely due to its quality. For one it remains consistent in our minds because it has a longer run than the Netflix Marvel shows. With the declining quality of Arrow and the somewhat unstable popularity of Supergirl, Flash has very little direct competition.I still think that it IS the best we have so far but I guess that means we’re moving in the right direction.

Now for the season itself, I found myself reliably intrigued by most of the episodes but hardly blown away by any of them. There were a sum of cool events that carried some cool premises but when executed I was left with a simple, “oh cool”. Perhaps that was enough since I did come back every episode hoping that the Flash would evolve or least do something remarkably cool.Instead I’m given interesting scenes that either disappoint me or give me hope… then destroy them

Dear Felicity, “It’s about time”

So for those of you who follow Arrow, I’m sure you’ve seen the most recent episode which concluded with Oliver and Felicity riding home in a lovely happy-ending fashion. Somewhere along the way in their nice limo, they wandered into friggin old time Harlem. Black vans pulled up around them and blasted the car Boardwalk style! Oddly enough this was one of the most intense scenes of Arrow. We know Team Arrow has fought mystical and super powered beings but this was one of the few times they felt truly in danger. Moving on- Oliver shields her from the bullets like the G he is but she still gets shot and is not responding.

Then… I sat there… aloof to these burning emotions that swelled up inside my heart. My thoughts were blank as the color of purgatory and my lips slowly quivered from shock of reality that just birthed before me. My life’s story at that moment had only one defining word….

“Finally!”

Arrow TV Show : Episodes 1-6

Okay let’s casually talk Arrow this season thus far
. If you wish to not read everything just scroll down and pick an episode, they’re all mostly quick thoughts. Enjoy.

Episode. 1)

Now Arrow starts off in the most yeah-this-wont-last-long scene with Oli and Felicity living that white picket fence life. Ya know that guy who used to be a playboy, then turned killer, then turned vigilante? Yeah he trades cooking options now. You know I would have enjoyed Oliver having a much needed break but there was nothing that would lead us to believe he actually enjoyed this boring nonsense. Come to think of it… What does Oliver like to do for fun? I mean really, he had a party guy’s past life but now that he’s older did we establish what he calls fun? Anyway, the poor man’s Defenders(Speedy, Diggle and Laura) are getting wrecked by this group of well trained, armed men called the ghosts.

So Oli and Felicity have to come back and help the team. Since Arrow can use the Felicity plot device to find mostly anyone, they now have the Cisco plot device from the Flash TV show to provide Oliver with a new outfit more akin to the comic counterpart.
