10 Changes Luke Cage 2 Needs (Netflix Marvel Series)

10 Changes Luke Cage 2 Needs

With the new season around the corner, I had mostly lukewarm(HAH!) feelings about the show. It was an average show with amazing moments in it. Personally, I believe there are some things that need to handle in order for the season to be great! Here’s my list and let me know you agree or disagree with it!

Domino Issue #2 Review

Domino #2

SO WE’RE BACK WITH DOMINO’S NEW COMIC LINE AND I HAVE TO SAY, I’M ODDLY ENJOYING IT. I SAY “ODDLY,” BECAUSE I’VE ALWAYS SEEN HER IN THE LIGHT OF STRICTLY BADASS OR TOTAL “HOT ACTION BABE” FROM THE EYES OF DEADPOOL. WE WILL BE DISCUSSING THESE ISSUES IN DETAIL SO SPOILERS FROM ISSUE #2 AND BEYOND.

DeadPool 2 Review: More Misses Than Hits This Time Around

DeadPool 2

So let’s get into this! Ryan is back and bringing us another dose of that underdog franchise that grew to become the monster it is today. I just think it may have missed me with its sequel. Coming from someone who loved the first one, this is bit disheartening but nonetheless, hear out my less-than-stellar reception of the movie.

The thing is, DeadPool 2 is like the previous movie but doubled down. It heavily depends on jokes that, to me, were either recycled or went on too long. This often left me waiting for a funny moment rather than being bombarded by them. Continue reading “DeadPool 2 Review: More Misses Than Hits This Time Around”

Marvel’s Infinity War’s True Power: Investment

Infinity War’s True Power: Investment

So by now, I’m sure most of us have seen Marvel’s Infinity War. If you have not, come back after you watch it because we’re going into light spoiler territory here. This will be more of my thoughts and feelings regarding a particular aspect of the movie, rather than just a review.

The Power of Feels

Out of all the Marvel movies I’ve seen only a few managed to be more than “good” to “great”. Those few are The Avengers, Captain America: Winter Soldier and now Infinity War. However there’s one thing that I never thought these movies could do until now, and that created this unwavering attachment and fear of loss: “The Investment”. All eighteen or so movies, and not once did I believe these heroes were in true danger..

Black Panther is A Better Movement than Movie

Black Panther is A Better Movement than Movie

I know this is super, super late! I’ve had so many hours to ponder how I felt about the movie overall after watching nearly three weeks ago.

When the movie finished and the credits fluttered down once more after the after-credits -scene (…..After that), I couldn’t but help feel disappointed – oh not at the movie, but at the expectations I had of the movie. This is not a review by the way, rather an exploration of the phenomenon that is, Black Panther. If I was asked what I thought, I would say I really enjoyed the movie! It had such an interesting world and believable characters with identifying motivations. Needless to say, it failed to blow me away as a complete package the way the Winter Soldier did. Thanks to some questionable CG and horrible plot conveniences (I’m looking at you magical all-powerful Vibranium) it failed to be amazing, but Black Panther is providing something different than Winter Soldier so they tend to be separate conversations.

My reasoning for writing this post is to express a simple and obvious thought: Black Panther is a better movement than a movie.

Thor Ragnarok: Fresh but Still Familiar (For the Good and Bad)

Hey everyone, so let’s Talk Thor! By the way, this is not a review…Just a talk:

I saw the movie yesterday and I didn’t want to write about it right when I got home because I was sprung off the sugar-like high of being in a theater full of fans. I will say I thoroughly enjoyed Thor and thought it was incredibly funny. Normally all the jokes that were put in Civil War, Avengers 2 and so on never hit with me. More often than not I would recognize that a joke was made but then just pray they moved pass it, which they usually do.Even Guardians of the Galaxy 2, which is supposedly Marvel’s “funny, funny guy” had a lot more misses than hits for me. Thank goodness people like Bautista made a lot of his comedy feel just organically awkward.

Thor Ragnarok gave me a jolt of something that I have forgotten in superhero movies and reminded also of its worst symptoms. One has to understand that this movie is a COMEDY movie with a side order of action. It uses beautiful imagery and bright colors to be eye-candy of course but to also remind others that this is overall a light-hearted movie despite the stakes.

Why “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” does not interest me. (Let’s talk motivations)

Star Wars: The Last Jedi will be releasing in December and needless to say it will do very well. After following movie channels and blogs, there seems to be a much higher percentage of people whom are excited for this movie. I on the hand cannot even use the word, “intrigued” to describe how I feel about this upcoming sequel and here’s why.

Those who talk to me (regarding narration) will know that my investment lies in characters rather than story. The story must be proficient and I can always respect a strong story but it’s not the factor that moves me emotionally. People… Desires… Motivations… These are the meat of any story but since movies are a visual medium, that often can be substituted for spectacle.

So lets talk characters:

Iron Fist gives us a Shining Middle Finger

Netflix Marvel (which is what I’m dubbing these shows now) has become nearly as anticipated as the Games of Thrones series for comic book nerds. Finally, we have a television outlet that give us all the grittiness that Movie Marvel is afraid to tap into and ever since Daredevil, we were hooked. Now admittedly this was the first time where I wasn’t really that excited for a Netflix Marvel show but I was waiting to be surprised… And it failed to do so, in fact in made nearly every bad step I imagined it would make.

Daredevil Episode 3-4 Recap

Welcome back nerds and nerdettes,

Sorry for the delay, got wrapped up in the series, but now we’re going for it!

Okay so episode 3 comes along and boy does this episode do it for me! We found Daredevil being snagged and chained on a roof in a very hospitable way considering Mr.P’s usual course of action. I love this version of Frank Castle! It opened with such a personal gem of mine when Daredevil asks, “Why didn’t you remove my mask?”

He replies, “Don’t give a shit about who you are.” Continue reading “Daredevil Episode 3-4 Recap”
